Athena,
I heard a piece on public radio concerning Juneau's electric consumption
after they experienced a huge outage. Here is a link with some info:
http://www.juneauempire.com/stories/060108/opi_285173311.shtml It appears
that consumption habits can change when we are forced. No government
intervention, just change based on market forces.
Uncle Lawrence,
You seem to dislike Pickens because he sells propane. So what!! Seems to
me that his propane comes from North America as opposed to the Middle East
which seems like a good thing to me. Keep in mind the corner stone of his
plan is building wind generation along with a shift to propane powered
vehicles. Al Gore thinks we need $5.00 or higher a gallon gas to effect
change. Perhaps he is correct that we need to hurt financially in order to
cut back on foreign oil. Pickens plan seems to have a similar outcome with
less financial pain. No doubt it takes a greater mind than mine to figure
it all out but I submit that cutting our dependence on foreign oil is a good
thing.
Luv you all Dan O........
