  I do remember sitting at the table on the screened in porch and eating cottage cheese and peas with Poppy.  Grandma would let me to cut the kernels off of the ear of corn to make it possible for Poppy to eat.

  Poppy seemed to have big hands to me.  How many of his sons have/had hands like his?

    G'day All,

    I did not know my Grandfather well as I was only eight when he passed away in 1965.  I do know he was 13 years older than Grandmother Donnie and that he gave out silver dollars at Christmas.  I also understand he had a rough time at the end of his life.  Possibly suffering from Dementia or Alzheimer's.

    I'm sure many on the connection have memories or stories about this man and I would sure like to hear them.  What was his background, education, beliefs.  Was he a humorous man or a serious one.  

    Thanks to those who chose to share memories of Donnie.  I find this info very fulfilling as well as interesting to boot.
